I've been trying to figure out how much battery time I can squeeze out of my MBP. I know that I can't expect (right now) to get the same runtime as OSX, but I think I should be getting more than I am.
When I run my machine with no underclocking, I get around 1.5 hours out of it (kinda sucky). When I reduce the ACPI performance state and underclock the GPU with aticonfig, it seems I'm chewing through battery life at about the same rate (or at least that is what KLaptop is telling me). The only other things I can think to reduce is the backlight and kill the wireless/bluetooth if I'm not using them (which I frequently am), but this is rather bad. I can get about 3 hours out of OSX without much effort, and I could probably stretch it to 3.5+ if I turned the extras off. So, now for the poll. What is the best battery times that you folks have managed to achieve, and what techniques did you do to get there? Also, on a different topic, I'm trying to get my touchpad to use the synaptics driver. I think the USB kernel driver is picking it up before the correct driver gets a chance to. I have 99% of my drivers compiled in, and I'd rather not recompile. Can anyone point me to some info on how to make this work? ~Bradley ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
