I can only acknoledge this behaviour on my MacMini CoreDuo, left channel
is crackling also here. Also the signal level is very poor, so that
connected to a rather old stereo the alsamixer must set to 100%.

I am using Ubuntu Edgy with Ubuntu Kernel 2.6.17-10-generic. Does a
patched vanilla kernel have the same problem?
