Hello!

Can anybody confirm that a Macbook Pro C2D 15" 2.16 Ghz is running
cooler (draws less energy) when using the vesa driver with xorg compared
to the ati-drivers?

With ATI-8.35.5 my fans are spinning with ca. 4000-5000 rpm,
with vesa with 2500-3000 rpm, all values when idle.

So i suspect the ati drivers or the ati card to draw a lot of power.

hi Florian. i've got a 15" MBP C2D with these ATI drivers:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 Generic
OpenGL version string: 2.0.6011 (8.28.8)

under little load, my fans spin at 3000-4000 rpm. when i run fgl_glxgears,
they go up to 6000 and stay there. i've only ever used the ATI drivers, so i
don't know what fan speeds to expect from the VESA driver.
