Well, if you ever get it to work properly on your hw, be sure to drop me a line. I suspect you may have missed out the 1394 stuff - I had since it was non-obvious to me. However, although it loads fine now I just get a green picture for a while and then it breaks down and the driver appears to die. Must be reloaded to (not) work again. So I've probably missed out on something further. Unless I've done something very stupid (quite possible) it would appear that the module lacks a bit of error handling and helpful messages. I've tried both the gentoo included stuff and various manual patching under 2.6.21rc2-mactel. Note: I also use suspend2 which may make life less stable (but that part appears to work most of the time - failures appear to be fglrx stress related). Alas, I've not had a lot of spare time for further testing of this the last few week. Other things take priority.
