Well, in my experience the work/not ratio is somewhere between 1/5
(current MBP C2D) and 1/10 (previous). That much extra rebooting is
pretty bad IMHO.

What I'd like to know is how come the refit menu works but then
lilo/grub doesn't. Obviously refit has found a way to get it to work, so
isn't it then likely that there should be a similar way to either make
it work in lilo/grub or to fiddle whatever is wrong before handing over
to lilo/grub?

Presumably this has to do with some kind of legacy keyboard emulation of
the builtin USB keybord? I know the keyboard is different (have not got
the usb scan handy, but I compared them when I had access to a MBP C1D).

Mine says:

# lsusb -v
[...]
Device Descriptor:
   bLength 18
   bDescriptorType 1
   bcdUSB 2.00
bDeviceClass 0 (Defined at Interface level)
   bDeviceSubClass 0
   bDeviceProtocol 0
   bMaxPacketSize0 8
   idVendor 0x05ac Apple Computer, Inc.
   idProduct 0x021b
   bcdDevice 0.13
   iManufacturer 1 Apple Computer
iProduct 2 Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad
   iSerial 0
[...]

The "idProduct" on the C1D was somewhat lower. Can anyone confirm?
