Well, suspend{1,2} has been a nightmare for me to get working so I've
pretty much given up on it. So... I couldn't say. On 2.6.19, the kernel
suspend "just worked". I keep current with kernels so ever since upgrading
it's been a headache. As far as I can recall, I had no problems with the
touchpad after a suspend to ram cycle.

i'm using powersaved and kpowersave to suspend to disk and RAM. i haven't
tried suspend[12], nor swsusp. s'pose i should give'em a shot. what exactly
is "kernel suspend"?

when you boot or resume from a suspend, is the touchpad's event-device (eg:

I read about this somewhere, possibly here. Pretty sure that is supposed
to happen and is actually disered for various reasons. Someone correct me
if I'm wrong. It should be re-initializing itself, thus the new node.
touchpad and suspend internals is an area I've been meaning to delve into so
I'm fairly ignorant about them... But, if I'm not mistaken, if you don't use
the dynamic event* method, you will wind up with problems after a resume.
Maybe it's the other way around. Trying to recall from memory what I read
about this issue and I could have it ass backwards. :-)

i think it was Ortwin (http://odi.ch) who told me that the event method is
likely/supposed to change between suspends...not sure about boots though.

Does your touchpad work after a resume using 'auto-dev'?

my touchpad works after resuming using "auto-dev", but synaptics doesn't.
when X comes back from a suspend, it doesn't find the new correct
touchpad/synaptics event method (/dev/input/eventX).
