Hey Erik, thanks for the response. This machine was installed with the 64 bit version of RHELWS4 and the other machine that I took another test drive out of is also 64 bit. I have tried a number of ram configs, and while nothing seems to work in RHEL WS4 ( currently installing WS5), I tried ubuntu, and while it sees more than 2 gigs, it will only see more if they are all the same size dimms.( For example 4 512s and 2 1gigs will only show as 2Gigs. but 6 1 gigs will show as 6 gigs no problem).
Thanks,
Brent

I don't use RHEL much, but I do know that you have to configure your
kernel to support more than 2GB of RAM if your kernel is 32bit. If
you're using the stock RHEL kernel, then that is probably the problem.

You should check for something like 'CONFIG_HIGHMEM4G' in your kernel
config (which might be available at /proc/config.gz), and make sure it
is set to 'y'.

Hey all, I have a Mac pro running RHEL ws4, and I noticed that it
only sees 2 gigs of ram. The machine has 4gigs, and I have tried all
sorts of memory configs, and have also tried putting a drive from
another machine ( a dell that has doesn't have an issue) in it, and
it gets the same thing, 2gigs. Anyone with a mac pro have this issue?
I think I am going to try a different distro, but I have a feeling
its not that. Anyone with a mac pro with more than 2 gigs seeing it
correctly?
