I think the reason that Mike downloaded version 8.1 of iTunes was
because of the iTunes DJ feature. There was some confusion about
this, because iTunes DJ is supposed to let people who are running
Apple's Remote app for the iPhone or iPod Touch to send in selections
for the next tracks to be played at parties, I believe that Mike was
thinking about using the Infrared Apple Remote to control iTunes
playback. That's certainly possible, and you can queue up tracks to
be played on the fly using PartyShuffle, but this is a different setup
from iTunes DJ. You would need to use the Remote App on the iPhone to
(visually) select and navigate entries on the iTunes library. I think
the idea is that guests with iPhones running the Apple Remote app
could be allowed to browse the library's music on their iPhone and
send in requests for the next tracks to play. This is only based on
the descriptions I've read.

Cheers,

Esther
