I've upgraded to the latest version of iTunes and still cannot see the settings area. How would I go about getting my iPod to show up in disc utilities in order to perform a reformat? I'm guessing that when you performed a reformat, everything worked out ok? Did you just do a quick erase, or did you zero out the drive?

Try that out. Also, you could reformat the iPod which will force it into recovery mode and really force a restore. I've done that one once, but it was a last resort thought right before running out to get a new one. Also, Genius bar could probably help if you bring the computer and the iPod. Got a Genius bar newar you? The thought was a great one since I'd just purchased some new music that I wanted to take with me to New York. Everything was great until I plugged the device in to my Mac. It took a second and then I got a message that told me that my iPod was corrupted and that I could either try reconnecting the device, or try restoring it. I of course tried ejecting the device and reconnecting with no result. My next choice was to restore the device, however, I can't seem to see the area for the iPod settings in order to perform the restore. Any ideas would really be appreciated. I really don't want to purchase another iPod just quite yet.
