Tim, you know that is the one disappointing thing about the Apple TV. It is like an Express as far as being able to stream audio and video, but the one thing I would liked for Apple to do is make it possible to hang an external drive off the unit and have it pull content. See we have lots of DVDs and I'd love to rip them to a drive and set things up so that the family could just scroll through a menu and select something to watch instead of plowing through a physical library of discs that actually seem to get dusty despite they are in their case. Well ok, there is enough we don't get around to dusting the shelves as often as we should. :) In any case, that is the one thing I hope they consider changing. ANd this is why I've been exploring the idea of getting a Mac Mini, which would do exactly what I want. The only other idea is if the Apple TV could wake up a remote machine so it could get the content and authorize itself with iTunes, but this isn't possible from what I understand.
