No I don't think you are Scott. However, I did read someone that turning down the screen brightness to zero actually turns off the backlight on the screen - effectively turning it off. I just wondered if this was possible as I have no need for a screen bu from waht I remember turning down the screen brightness increased batery life dramatically.

Surely you recognize that turning off the screen would generally not make a lot of sense. These aren't machines designed exclusively for the blind, so turning off the screen would only benefit those of us who would not typically use the screen. You have the option to turn the screen brightness down to the point where no one could read it and that alone would help conserve battery life. If you turn the brightness down as far as it will go, that will help save your battery, but I do not believe you can turn the screen off entirely-in other words cut power to it.
