Hi Keith, I own the new 13 inch MBP and I cannot tell any differench MBP and an older 15 inch MBP. I cannot tell any difference between the volume levels of the two machines. Your second question about quality of the sound is too subjective for me to give you an answer. If you are worried about sound queality; I'd use external speakers.
