Right, but there was the recent spat with the original owners over patents on some of the underlying technologies. Apparenly eBay didn't actually purchase those and without them Skype was going to have issues. So I'm not sure what the new owners will bring to the table. If I just want to do peer to peer audio I would think iChat would do the job reasonably well, but I've had firewall issues with iChat that seemed to go away with Skype. Maybe that's what the patents cover.
