Hi Rich,

We have had confirmation from list members who have both the new
(March 2009 and later) and old Mac Mini models that using either an
"Apple DVI to Video Adapter" in the case of older Minis:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9267G/A
or an "Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter" in the case of the newer Minis:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9319G/A
works to solve performance problems of running without a monitor.

There are many examples in the archives that the older adapter works
for the old (pre-March 2009) Minis. For the new (March 2009 and
later) Minis, here's a link to the archived post from Brett Sinnett
reporting success:

An excerpt from his post:
<begin excerpt>
I've done some further testing. Using the new 2009 model Mac Mini, I
hooked up the Mini-DVI to video adapter and launched Safari and
browsed a few pages. Then, I unplugged the adapter and restarted the
Mini. Once again, I launched Safari. It was quite unresponsive. It
appears this adapter still works on the new Mac Minis.

Note that Apple changed the connector from DVI to Mini-DVI as of the
March 2009 Mac Mini models. That's why you have to order the
connector model that is appropriate for your machine. If your
connector doesn't fit, it may be that you ordered it for the wrong
model Mac Mini. See if you can exchange it at your local Apple Store.
Cheers,
Esther
