For a while, it was necessary to option click on the dropbox icon to get access 
to the preferences from the context menu. other app icons also require some 
creative clicking to access them. I don't know the why or wherefore of all 
this, I just know to try various clicks on the icons that aren't cooperating 
like control click, option click and so forth.
