Some windows have a metal film between the panes to help reflect away heat and there is also insulation in some walls that has a metal foil. These could all interfere. Bluetooth is just designed to go a short distance.

Hi,

It's not just steel that's the problem. Is your house stucco or veneered brick
or stone? What really stops wireless signals is wire mesh. Stucco usually is
placed on a house with a wire mesh frame that might as well be a cellphone,
wireless and bluetooth damping field. Also, if the door has a screen made of
metal and not nylon, that can be an issue too. The range of bluetooth is
usually about 33 feet. I'd try aligning your computer and speaker through a
line of sight that passes through a window, or move the laptop along the wall,
even a solid wall, until the signal picks up. Remember, just because it's
closer doesn't mean the signal is stronger. Try wrapping your speaker in
aluminum foil and try to get music out of it. Smile. I'm guessing you will
fine some sweet spot that will work for you.

Worst case, run an extension cord outside for the laptop.

Happy experimenting.

Not far, and as soon as I take it outside and close the door, the signal gets
choppy then eventually cuts out, I have an audio speaker that does the same
thing when I have the computer in my room then take it in Hannah's room to play
with her and close the door, and don't know if it's because there are walls
in-between the rooms, or what the case is, but that can be annoying as well,
but I don't want to crank the sound up so it can be heard all over the house
sense that A, distorts it, and B, can be an inconvenience to other people here
who may not want to hear it at the time.

How far is the speaker from the computer overall? Have you tried the computer
the other way round, in front of the door, or putting the speaker closer? Just
experiment.

The back door is a French door, so not sure how much help that is, and had the
laptop sitting in Hannah's room, which is about a foot or less away from the
back door, kind of off to the lide a little, sitting on her drawing table which
sits up against the wall. What would you recommend I do differently, or can
that not really be remmoddied?
I obviously can't keep the back door open all day unless I want to let the warm
air in the whole time and invite gnats into the house, so not sure what else to
do aside from not having any music.

Hi,

A door is not a door, and a wall is not a wall. No, seriously, depends what
material the doors and walls are made of, which way you have the bluetooth on
the computer pointed, and many other things. External doors and walls often
include steel, which can impeed signals.

I have a waterproof bluetooth speaker that I'm wanting to take out by the pool
this afternoon, but tested it out a few days ago only to find that even after
moving my laptop to a location closer to where the back door is, as soon as I
take the speaker outside and close the back door, the signal cuts out. Can
anyone explain to me why that is?
I don't have that issue when the computer is on in my room and I have the
speaker in the shower with the bathroom door closed, so have no idea why that
would be an issue here, which is really disturbing to me, so would really love
some info on this.
