I have not had problems with my Mac waking from the Braille Edge. The Focus 14, if it turns itself off because it has been too long, it has to be turned back on, and then VoiceOver will connect again automatically. As for updating, the Braille Edge updates on the Mac fine. You just save out to a SD card and follow the instructions on the Braille Edge. As for me, when it comes time to update my Focus 14, I will have to get someone else to do it since I refuse to put Windows on my Mac just for that. I don't need Windows for anything else.
