Use mpg stream clip, whuch will allow you to edit clips, append one clip to an other and make different formats. How ever, you will not get the nice features like transitions, titles, sound effects, etc. If you want to add background music to a film, when it is ready, you can also use Garageband 6 to do it, it works pretty nice. These are some work arounds, we all hope that the new iMovie becomes better and more usable. Best
