If space did not work reliably, I would not be using the onscreen braille input
to take notes or write case notes at work. I am now almost as fast onscreen as
I am on the braille keyboard, and expect to be as fast shortly.

The problem some people are having is quite possibly the same problem I still
occasionally have when I use tabletop mode rather than away mode. In tabletop
mode, I find that my single-finger flick is often to short, so it registers as
a dot press rather than a space. In away mode, this happens much less
frequently. In fact, in this message, which I am writing in away mode, not
doing a long enough swipe has occurred six times. Note: I usually write in 6
dot mode rather than contracted braille mode. If computer braille was available
on the iPhone, I would use it instead. I have come to the conclusion that, with
electronic braille, we should be using computer braille, or grade 1 braille, as
much as possible. This will improve our spelling, and bring us more inline with
the vast, vast majority of sighted people.
