I mostly use tabletop mode and am not having the space problem. I wonder if
some of it has to do with proportionate size or length of fingers or something
related to that which makes this happen more for some of us than others. I also
am becoming faster and faster at braille input mode though I am not using it
all the time. I am also using sixdot mode primarily because I get the audible
feedback of what I have typed; for several reasons right now it does seem
simpler not to use contracted braille and if I make a mistake I only have one
character to correct.

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper
thrown in the trash!
Then God gave me a new heart and life:
His joy for my despairing tears!
And now, every day:
"This I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness."
(Lamentations 3:21-23 ESV)
