It is certainly  a puzzle.
I have navigated all around the iTunes music page in an effort to reproduce    
your problem and command option F worked everywhere I tried it.

I wonder if there is something deeper going  on.
It is bit left field but have you turned keyboard help on and checked that your 
command and option keys have not somehow been remapped? 
I think I read earlier that you had used a Russian keyboard layout at one 
stage? I do not know why this would cause a problem but it is worth checking.

In your situation I would probably be looking at a clean install.
