Well, I have no explanation for this. Bu t I just tried the command option f 
again, after trying several times previously. This time, it worked. This was 
after I just upgraded to the latest Yosemite update, although why that should 
make a difference, I have no clue. Now I just hope this keeps working, because 
the thought of a clean install is not in the least appealing. <smile>
