Hi Anne,

Just a late follow-up, thanks a lot for providing your experiences with track
changes and comments. I’ve spent a fair amount of time experimenting with this
and I believe I have figured out how to reliably read and navigate through
comments. It works just as you say; I’ve set hotspots on the previous and next
buttons in the relevant toolbar to quickly navigate to them, and after pressing
either button, I can immediately hit VO+SHIFT+J to enter the popover and read
the comment, then press ESCAPE and use VO commands to navigate back to the body
of the document. At that point I can hear what is selected, and thus determine
where the comment was placed for context. The only thing that was confusing me
was the fact that the first time I navigate to a comment, the popover often
comes up automatically. There is often no need to hit VO+SHIFT+J the first time
in an editing session to enter the popover; instead, I can just use VO+RIGHT
ARROW to move through the popover and read the comment. However, when VO
doesn’t jump to the popover automatically, and you use another navigation
command, then VO+SHIFT+J no longer works. In any case, I can now use this
feature reasonably confidently.

Thanks,

Grant

AR Set hotspots on the Next and Previous buttons to get to them quickly.

AR For me, the popover is not read immediately, but VO-Shift-j takes me there
and I can read who made the change or comment and at what time. I can then
accept or reject it. However, if I do anything other than press VO-Shift-j
after hearing the sound, the popover seems to disappear.

AR I’m wondering whether the mouse has anything to do with this. I always set
my mouse to ignore the other cursors. One thing that sometimes works is to
bring the mouse and press VO-Space.

AR The unlabelled buttons in all these popovers are Previous and Next.

Ar I’m not having these problems. However, I frequently lose the ability to
navigate in the text using VoiceOver and have to toggle it off and on again.

I hope this is of some use.

Cheers,

Anne
