Thanks phill,if that is right and I format,how do I get the os on the mac then .and will I have to then do cmd r and then choose disc utilitys,and then choose install os sorry for being thick here so again,thanks for the help

To get there, you restart your computer, and when you hear the chime sound, immediately press and hold Command + R for about ten seconds. Wait another 20 seconds or so and then turn on VO with command F5. You’ll hear voice Fred. select and run disk utilities from the table. Here’s where you reformat the disk. It’s important to select the right disk from the table. you want to highlight the disk that says Mac HD. From there, you navigate to and press the erase button I think ( I’m going from memory here). you should get options to set the kind of formatting, and you’ll want to select mac journaled. Sorry Wayne, I’m going from memory, so I’m not being exact here. You should be careful and don’t accept my word without doing some investigating for yourself. At least, this will get you to the disk utilities app in the recovery partition and selecting the right disk to reformat.
