Wayne, after wiping the MacHD drive with the disk utilities program from within recovery partition, you then can install the OS by selecting that option in the table where you found disk utilities. You’ll need WiFi for that as it downloads the OS from Apple Servers, but that’s okay, I’ve done it and it works fine. Again, wipe the MacHD drive and then install/reinstall the OS from the options table.
