Hi all,

I am not a strong mac user, although my windows knowledge is quite good. A
friend of mine has come into possession of a macbook pro 2013 or 2014 not
sure, running 10.9 and she asked if I could put windows on it, since she
cannot handle mac either.

Anyway, her dad used the mac for a while and has put a password on it. I can
log in, but cannot use parts of bootcamp assistant as the password prompt
comes up. He cannot recall the password.

I have tried:

1. Going into recovery mode, terminal and using the "resetpassword"
command. This has failed since vo says that it is launched in the
background, but I cannot get to it in any way.

2. I have tried to remove the .applesetupdone file, as recommended by
a few websites I googled, from /var/db.

I did the following

Diskutil mount and mounted S02

Changed to /volumes/Macintosh\ Hd/var/db

And rm rf .applesetupdone

This did not work and an ls of the /var/db directory showed no such file.

So how can I get this mac to work? I will reinstall OSX if I can, but I have
no startup DVD so no clue how to go about this.also no blank DVDs lol.

I just need to get access to this thing and any assistance you can recommend
would be amazing.

Thanks all

Matt
