Hi,

I don’t believe that what you’re asking for is possible in Apple Mail. The
default folders are listed first in the MailBox list, each expandable to see
there contents then they’re followed by the user created folders of each
account. So, for example, you could see the following in the MailBox list:

InBox (Expandable. If expanded, you’ll see the InBoxes for the active accounts)
Home
Work (These two are examples of the two active accounts and are not expandable
as they are just the specific InBoxes)
Drafts (Expandable)
Sent (Expandable)
Trash (Expandable)
Archived (Expandable)
On My Mac (Expandable)
Home (Expandable)
Work (Expandable)
Conferences (user created MailBox in the Work account)
IT Info (user created MailBox in the Work account)
Personnel (user created MailBox in the Work account)
Safety (user created MailBox in the Work account)

It’s important to note that when focused on the Mailboxes list, if you simply
arrow down without Interacting with the table nor using VO keys, you will not
hear the names of the expandable items thus getting yourself very confused as
to what user created mailbox belongs to which account. So, after interacting
with the Mailbox list, holding down your VO keys, you can go down through the
list of Mailboxes knowing which belongs to which parent account.

Also, regarding the Favourites bar, you can put any Mailbox you wish into it,
InBoxes, user created Mailboxes, whatever Mailbox you believe important enough
to place there and, thus, having quick access to by using a command key. For
myself, I put a few primary InBoxes, my Sent, Trash and Drafts, using eight
places in my Favourites bar. Therefore, no matter which Mailbox I’m currently
in, command plus 1 through 8 gets me instantly to that specific Mailbox, with
VO focused there as well.

I don’t think that you can make Mail be just like Thunderbird, nor could we
make it behave just like Outlook, and vice versa. Sorry.

Later...

Tim and Alex,
Thanks for the input. Is it possible to just forget Favorites and work with
each account by itself? The Thunderbird setup works great for me. TB does have
an option to unify all accounts which I never enabled.

I was working with Mail today and trying to come to grips with it. I would
like to be able to open any account and view all its contents under it.

Its confusing. An example is that 2 accounts have an Archive folder. When I
arrow down the mailbox table, they are listed one ofter the other in the list.
I do not know which account they belong to.

Another example is when I see the accounts in the table, there is an inbox
above them, and all the subfolders as well as the rest of the default folders
following the last account.

So what I want to see is just the accounts unless I expand one.
