Hi Mike,

Sorry you had such an ordeal getting your Voice Dream voices downloaded. I
experienced the same problem when you posted your original message to
macvisionaries but mine seemed to clear up the next day.

I did copy Winston Chen, the Voice Dream developer, on my post to the
viphone list describing the problem. He replied on 2/11/15 and I'm pasting
below my signature his reply which includes my post in the email history.

I hope Voice Dream behaves going forward and you enjoy it as much as I do.

Alan

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out.

The voices files are hosted on Amazon. I have heard of these issues, and a
few times I ran into them myself. It's very strange to me. But in all cases,
the problems are results a few days later or on a different network. If this
is not the case, I would like to find out.

In the next update, we're moving to a different type of hosting service on
Amazon. I hope it'll improve things.

Best,

Winston.

Hello List,

I saw a post on the macvisionaries list from a user who recently upgraded
his iPhone 4S to a new 64GB iPhone 6 who keeps getting the below error
message when he tries to re-download his purchased Voice Dream voices:

Voice downloading failed. Please try again when you have a good network
connection.

He has tried downloading multiple times on different networks all with
strong wifi signals but the error keeps recurring.

Since I recently got a new 128GB iPhone 6 and restored a backup of my iPhone
5, I thought I better go fetch some of my purchased Voice Dream voices too
and lo and behold got the same error message.

Would one of you many Voice Dream Reader users mind trying to download a
purchased voice to help determine if this is a Voice Dream network problem?
I'm not a big believer in coincidences and it seems odd that both of us
experiencing this problem have new high capacity iPhone 6's that were
restored from other iPhones. I agree that you wouldn't think that was
related to our problem but who knows. I was able to successfully add a new
book from Bookshare using Voice Dream after getting the above voice download
error message for whatever that's worth.

Thanks in advance.

Subject: Re: Problems with Voice Dream Reader on an iPhone 6

Hi, Alan,

After many days of attempting without success to download voices I had
purchased for the Voice Dream Reader to my iPhone 6, it finally worked.
Still, it took me over a week of constant attempts for it to finally work,
and I was always at places where the Internet connectivity was excellent. I
love Voice Dream Reader, so I was willing to put up with the hassle, but
installing something I had already purchased should have been easier.

If anyone else ever has this problem, all I can do is suggest that they keep
trying until it finally works.

Kindest regards,

Mike

the same network error when trying to download my purchased voice dream
voices even though I have full wifi connectivity. fYI, voice dream voices
never come forward with a restored backup but they should certainly download
from the get voices screen.

at five or six different places, with 3 out of 3 bars reception and fast
connectivity.
