True, there is airplay. I thought however he was directly wanting to play
it, not stream it over the network. That's why I didn't make that
suggestion.

If you use Airplay Mirroring from your Mac, you can play it from your Mac
onto the Apple TV without needing to enter anything on your Apple TV. Make
sure your Apple TV is turned on, on the same network as your Mac, then press
VO-m-m to access the Extras menus, locate the AirPlay Displays menu and
activate it with VO-space. Choose your Apple TV, listed under the Connect
to AirPlay item from that menu. Should be good to go after that.
