Hi list,

Well I am finally back on the Mac. I finally figured out how to fix
the problem with the certificates. Here's what i did and what i
subsequently realized.

realisedI went into my user Preferences for my specific everyday
account which is what i use for my daily computing. I deleted the
Mail preferences and then deleted the Mail folder.

I did this numerous times, before I remembered that although the files
were in the Trash, Mac treats the Trash differently than in Windows.
Mac seems to treat the Trash as a virtual drive, almost like a Disk
Image. So Mac is still able to access those files and the only way to
ensure that I could fix the problem was to delete the files from the
Trash. Once this was done, everything worked fine. Oh and before I
forget, I also changed the SSL incoming port number from 993 to 995.

I hope this helps someone else if they ever find themselves in a
similar situation with an IMAP or I would guess any other certificate
problem in Mail.

Take care all

James
