Alpine? Ewwwww! You may as well do Mutt! LOL!
No, wait, I gotta better one for ya: Let's use Emax with Emaxspeak.
There's an ugly one for ya! ROFL! But no, seriously, I know this doesn't
exactly? involve Mail? but! maybe you all can at least help me out. Back in
Snow Leopard, there was an RSS client built in, which they've seemed
starting with Lion to have removed. Dang! I loved it when it lasted!
Anyway, so, on I O S, I'm good, but what on OSX are you guys using now for
reading textual based RSS feeds? I got a few that I really really would
like to follow. I know Safari kind of ish, will do it, but from what I
hear, it's kind of a pain.
I tried RSS Menu, but I couldn't exactly seem to figure it out. It was kind
a tricky with Voiceover.
Chris.

Pegasus Mail was awesome, back in the day. It’s still being maintained but
I’m not sure I’d want to use it now—or even if I could.
MailMate is promising for we power-users, but there are still some
accessibility challenges. Thunderbird is off, on OS X. Mozilla don’t seem
to have put in the same level of commitment for OS X as Windows in their
stuff. Thunderbird can be made to do more than it first appears, using
extensions; it also correctly formats plain text messages, unlike Mail.app.
I’m already aware of the changes in Mail that have been made in El Capitan;
Mail was the first app I tried. I still think we need an alternative mail
client. This on-off access to one of the most important applications on any
OS, and the lack of options, is a problem that I think we should acknowledge
exists for some people.
Alpine or other text-based programs would of course work, but IMO the
experience is best with BRLTTY and braille under Linux; on OS X it’s just
miserable, although doable in a pinch.
