Hey Scott,

Initially I thought the same thing you did, that I would wait till the next
gen. But I wanted something to use for working out, and there were things I
didn't like about my Fitbit, so I decided to go ahead.

I went with the 38.5 aluminum model. I may go with the stainless steel next
time, but since I was pretty sure I'm going to want to replace this one when
the next generation comes out, I wanted to go as cheap as I could this
go-round. My battery life is the same as George's. I charge it every night
when I go to bed, but it's at about 50% when I put it on the charger, so if I
had to go two days, I probably could. I agree that it would be nice if it
functioned more independently of the phone. I went out of town a few weekends
back, and actually ran off without my phone. (Can I just say, it was awful!!!!
Addicted to my phone, noooooooo, certainly not me!: lol Anyway, it would
certainly have been nice had my watch been able to function more without the
phone that weekend. Another thing I wish is that it monitored flights of steps
climbed like the phone does. A small point, I realize, but it's on my wish
list.

One thing I will say from a blindness perspective, is that i'll probably never
completely give up my braille watch. I have enough situations in my life where
I want to be able to check the time soundlessly--either because I don't want
others knowing I'm checking, or because I don't want the noise to disturb
someone else, that I do still have my braille watch for those occasions.

I will let you know my take on the next release, but in the meantime, I'd say
go for it!
Cheers,
Donna
