One handy bit is to choose Show Duplicate Items from the view menu. No guarantee that every duplicate is found or that the flagged ones are actually duplicates, but it can reduce the size of the haystack you need to wade through.

Hi,
I have realized recently that my i tunes library has become quite bloated!

I can go in and delete duplicates by hand, but I know this will be quite time
consuming.

If I delete the current library, and then use my music folder on an external,
how do I keep it from becoming so huge again? Also, since I do want to add
more music files to the library at times, can I just point the i tunes towards
the new library on the external drive, then add the new files to that folder
directly, instead of using the automatically add to i tunes folder?

Hope this isn’t too confusing..
Thanks,
Caitlyn
