The partition is otherwise usable, but don’t move anything already put there by the installer. Only add files. Although it would theoretically be possible to slice up the disk and use only one slice for the installer, I don’t think that’s what the CreateInstallMedia tool (and, by extension, DiskMakerX, which uses it) does. I can try it out sometime and let you know if it’s a possibility, though.
