OK. Use Disk Utility to erase the disk first, and try one more time. If DiskMakerX will not do it, then it’s really no hardship to use the “CreateInstallMedia” tool that comes with the app you downloaded from the Mac App Store. Go to the MAS and make sure the button for download on the product page is dimmed, indicating it’s installed. We assume your erased volume is called “Untitled”. Now run (you can copy and paste the whole command into Terminal):
sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia —volume /Volumes/Untitled —applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/ Type in your password, if prompted. Answer affirmatively to the prompt that you are erasing the target device. Read the responses, until “Done” appears, with no preceding error. Close the Terminal Window and quit Terminal. You should now have an installer drive. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
