That's an idea.
Except for Office stuff I don't actually mind the Mac OS.
A cheap Windows machine with NVDA might just do the trick. ) Spending
hundreds for a JAWS upgrade seems crazy(.

An upgrade would absolutely void the warranty, yes. But, if you're replacing it
anyway, why not? That said, it sounds like your problem is more the apps on the
Mac, and that you prefer Windows anyway. Why not get a cheap Windows box for
work, and keep the Mac for home use, assuming you prefer it for everything
except work?

Hi Alex,
Thanks for writing in.
I mainly need the new machine for Office work.
Haven't quite gotten my head around Pages for the Mac yet.
I got quite excited when Office for Mac became accessible but honestly it's
been a big disappointment ever since.
If I need to do any serious editing for documents I fire up Windows through
BootCamp.
This machine uses flash memory but an upgrade at home might void the warranty.

Sadam Ahmed

Your call. I assume you are familiar with both, given that you've had a Mac for
two years but still know Windows. Macs are more expensive, but, well, they're
Macs, with all the advantages that includes. Do you have specific questions
about one platform or the other which you aren't sure about but would help your
decision?
As Jonathan said, too, a 2013 machine is pretty new. I'm on a 2012 Air, and
about to bring my 2011 Mini back to life, and both work fine. If you have a
mechanical drive in that Mac, that might explain a lot. Consider buying a solid
state drive upgrade for your existing machine, instead of a whole new laptop.
It's harder to replace hard drives in newer Macs, but it can be done with the
right tools and parts.

That system is fairly new. If you can upgrade memory or drive you should get
another 2 or 3 years out of it. I think the only networking he really that
upgraded is Bluetooth 4.2 in the new systems.

Hi fellow list members,
Seeking your advice.
My 2013 late MacBook Pro is getting rather long in the tooth and I am looking
at upgrading.
The question is do I purchase a new Mac or heaven forbid get a PC?
I don't mind Windows 10 but I would need to resurrect JAWS license or perhaps
use NVDA.
Would be using the new computer for office related tasks and XL.
As always your help is appreciated.
Yours truly,
Sadam Ahmed
