Hi. Okay, first question, do you have things on your external that you want to save?

if yes, we have a problem and you can't use that drive for a timemachine backup as this will erase the content on the drive.

if no, , then we can make this work but we will have to make changes to the drive to make it operate on mac. by default, mac can not write to a drive with the ntfs file system. This is changable but not without a complicated install process that is really beyond the scope of this message.

Sorry have not been following this whole thread so people may have already given these instructions.

if you are okay with loosing the stuff on the drive, write me privately and I can give you instructions on how to make this drive work with mac in a whole bunch of detaill that should make it easy.

because I am in Toronto like you still might be, we could do some of this on the phone as well.
