As to the second point, I suppose you’re right, from a purely veridical
perspective. Nevertheless, despite my present-day reliance and recommendation
of the Mac platform to blind people, I do remain very concerned about the level
of commitment Apple is putting into VoiceOver development. I have not,
especially over the last couple of years, more often wished to be using another
platform which, while the accessibility may not be incorporated out of the box
or refined to the same degree, is at least given to being innovated on and
improved and not being left to stagnation and to continually producing
deleterious effects on productivity. This is, of course, to say nothing of the
fact that Apple has other platforms, the excellent accessibility of which is a
much more certain thing, if for no other reason that they are more financially
rewarding for Apple.

To the first point, what specifically do you like about Linux accessibility
over OS X? To me it’s getting better, but still way too unreliable to replace
OS X, especially for something as critical as web browsing with Firefox, which
seems to be continuously slow and/or broken most of the time. Also, although
this point is not strictly accessibility-related, much like Windows, I don’t
ever seem to be at peace with Linux on the desktop. The only exception is a
fully textmode Linux environment, as run on a server or in my Linux VM, which I
have manually built up and verified. OS X does, for the most part, “Just work”
and there is a lot of joy to be extracted from such solidarity.
