Hello Denise, It all depends how you are reading the document before you pause to start again. If you’ve been using the arrow keys without VO, you may have to bring the VO cursor to the keyboard focus with VO-Shift-F4. Of course, you always have to interact with the text for VO commands to work correctly.
I rather like reading Word documents in Pages as it will read page by page using VO-Page Down (VO-FN-Down-Arrow on a laptop). I find it a convenient way to skip through a long document, too.
