Not sure, didn't have to change anything installed it and ran it with a windows 
7 machine running jaws 17.

Only problem is that the jaws USB dongle is seen by the VB software but doesn't 
pass through to the actual vm.

Otherwise virtual box is working fine with VO on the iMacs it is running on.

Unless there has been an update to VB since we installed our copy and this has 
changed things.

 I know with the earlier versions of virtual box when the VM starts up it 
crashs vo but this is a known issue in the 4.3.x versions of vb .

I just tried VirtualBox 5.0.14 on El Capitan, and it’s unusable for me.  It 
bundles the QT5 accessible widgets plugin, and I’ve enabled the app under 
Security & Privacy, Accessibility.  No go.  All I hear, when I start the main 
app, is a lot of unknowns.  Only the menu bar speaks.

How are you getting VBox to speak?  Cheers.
