I'm kind of rusty at Windows updates, but here's what I've done to avoid this
so far:
One, changed windows update settings from "download and install automatically"
to notify me before downloading
2, I unchecked the "give me recommended updates the same way I get important
updates" box. Three, when I unchecked the give me updates to Microsoft products
and check for new software check box, I was giving her a stern warning and so I
canceled out. Is it OK to uncheck that? They make it seem like you won't get
any kind of update it all, but I think it's a ruse of some kind.
4, I checked the box saying give me detailed notifications when new Microsoft
software is available.
So, to quote the marathon man, "is it safe?"
This whole thing kind of freaks me out. If they screwed me on windows i'll
really be ticked off. Thanks for catching this one.
