The closest that I've experienced to that is when I try to go into computers, it says to turn on home sharing in iTunes. Both iTunes and the ATV indicate that it's turned on.

Subject: Apple TV weirdness

Hi all,

Still trying to troubleshoot this homesharing thing. I've turned homesharing on and off on my computer, and when that did nothing, I decided to try re-initializing it on my Apple TV. Now, my Apple TV won't take my Apple ID and password. I've entered it three times, so am sure I didn't enter it incorrectly all those times. Each time Voiceover just says unable to sign in, and prompts me to change my Apple ID or password at the website. Has anyone encountered this? Anyone know a solution?
TIA,
Donna
