A couple of things I'd like to add in this thread.
First, I believe the main advantage of checkbook pro over just Padilla 
checkbook is that, in managing several accounts, transactions can be recorded 
across those accounts. For example; account A0000 has A $100 withdrawal that is 
deposited into account B0000. As I understand it, that can be a single 
transaction appropriately recorded to both accounts.

Second, after being in contact with the developers of checkbook pro I have been 
assured that they intend to introduce the ability to print checks from their 
app.
