The problem is that the Mac client is very old and doesn't support
current Microsoft codecs, but will do older flavors of Microsoft's DRM.
For newer Microsoft codec support you can use Flip For Mac but this does
not handle Microsoft's DRM at all. Last I heard Microsoft has not
released code or software for the Mac to support their DRM except in the
form of the ancient WMP installer. So for most Windows Media with DRM it
lives up to its namesake and will work only on Windows. Not much anyone
can do about it except Microsoft and they aren't real motivated to
support any platform beyond Windows. This should be pointedly and
repeatedly mentioned to any content provider that buys into the
Microsoft Windows-only solutions propaganda.
