In the past, there have been software problems known to push the iPhone into a 
busy loop that causes great heat output.  It doesn’t change the advice you’ve 
already got, of course, but if for no other reason, you may like to put your 
phone into DFU mode and do a complete reinstallation of the newest available 
software.  In this way you completely eliminate any possible software-related 
problem.  You also wipe your phone, ready for handing it back to Apple.  Make 
sure you take an encrypted backup and have all the media you need in iTunes or 
in iTunes Match, iCloud Photo Library, or from Apple’s stores.
