Thanks to all and to Sabahattin. The below instructions worked. So the problem 
that I was having is that under the disk Utility I had the wrong disk selected 
and that’s why the GB didn’t match my card. Thank goodness for the help here 
and that I did not accidentally try to format the hard drive on my Mac. In the 
table of discs there was one called something like apple SD card reader, can’t 
remember exactly. I thought the disk directly under that one was the SD card 
since it was some string of numbers and my hard drive was listed under that. 
Anyways, I needed to have the apple SD card reader selected. I formatted the 
disc per the instructions below and all seems fine. For now, the SD card also 
seems to be working on my stream and is stating 60 GB of memory available. Lots 
of other people are using 64 GB just fine with their stream but they used the 
stream to format their card to make it work. So, for now I will try this 64 GB 
card in my stream as an experiment with caution. The good news is that my SD 
card is working on my mac as it should. :)
