Anne, do you mean the Accessibility option zoom or something else?
Doesn't zoom interfere with voiceover commands?

Hello Nick,
I’ve just followed your steps and am not getting these weird results
that you have. After pressing Return, I’m getting `zero millimetres
right every time.
I’m using the same level of Pages and of Mac OS X as you are. I have
Zoom set to 200% so that VO-F4-F4 gives more accurate results since it
gives the insertion point as shown visually on the screen, not as
would be printed out.
Cheers,
Anne

Greetings,
There are a few inaccuracies/anomalies with the keyboard insertion
point as reported by VoiceOver in Pages 5.6.1.
These can be illustrated by repeating the following steps:
1. Open a new blank document in Pages from the template chooser.
2. Interact with the body of the document and press VO-F4 twice
quickly to have VoiceOver report the keyboard insertion point.
Assuming you have VoiceOver set to speak size and position in
millimetres, VoiceOver should report ‘Insertion is 0 millimeters
right, 0 millimeters down from top left corner of edit text.’,
which is expected behaviour.
3. Press return once and then have VoiceOver announce the keyboard
insertion point again by pressing VO-F4 twice quickly. This
time VoiceOver reports the insertion point as, ‘Insertion is 1.7
millimeters right, 0 millimeters down from top left corner of
edit text’, which is not expected behaviour, as the insertion
point should have moved down but not to the right.
4. Press return again and then have VoiceOver report the keyboard
insertion point. This time it reports, ‘Insertion is 2
millimeters right, 3 millimeters down from top left corner of
edit text’.
5. Press return once more and again have VoiceOver report the
insertion point. It reports it as ‘Insertion is 2 millimeters
right, 6 millimeters down from top left corner of edit text.’
6. Now press the up arrow twice so that the keyboard cursor is on
the second line of the document and have VoiceOver report the
keyboard insertion point again. This time VoiceOver reports it
as, ‘Insertion is 2 millimeters right, 3 millimeters down from
top left corner of edit text’. This is neither expected behaviour
(which should at least have the keyboard insertion point as 0mm
right of top left corner of edit text) nor the same unexpected
behaviour as encountered in step 3 above.
7. Now press the down arrow once to move to the third line and
have VoiceOver report the insertion point. This time we get
‘Insertion is 0 millimeters right, 6.4 millimeters down from top
left corner of edit text’, which is not the same behaviour as
encountered in step 4 above.
8. If you then press the down arrow key once more to move to the
fourth line and have VoiceOver report the insertion point, it
reports it as ‘Insertion is 2 millimeters right, 6 millimeters
down from top left corner of edit text’, which is odd given that
it’s reported as being closer to the top left corner of edit text
than when on line 3 as encountered in step 7 above.
9. If you now press the up arrow once and then the tab key 3 times
and have VoiceOver report the insertion point, it reports it as,
‘Insertion is 27 millimeters right, 6 millimeters down from top
left corner of edit text.’ I don’t know about the accuracy of
this, but at least it’s reported as being further right than
before pressing the tab key.
10. But now press the down arrow once and have VoiceOver report the
insertion point. It’s reported as being, ‘29 millimeters right, 6
millimeters down from top left corner of edit text.’ For some
reason pressing the tab key on line 3 has made VoiceOver think
the insertion point at the beginning of line 4 is further to the
right, and further than it was reported as being in step 8.
Tested with Pages version 5.6.1 (2562) on OS X El Cap
version 10.11.4. Australian localisation using the enhanced Karen
(Australian English) voice on a 13" mid 2011 MacBook Air with 1.7 GHz
Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM and Intel HD Graphics
