Simon, wireless power isn’t like lightning.:) It’s more like microwaves that are very directed. It’s also fairly theoretical still on a large scale. Tesla (Nicola Tesla, not the car company) experimented with this around the turn of the 20th century. Boing now is proposing putting solar cells in orbit and beaming the power down via microwaves. The idea is you send the power in a directed form either modifying it’s frequency and making it more directional or using other methods.
