As long as the Apple TV recognizes it, it should work.  You only need it to 
hear Vo so it doesn’t have to be high quality.  I am using an old pair of 
Aftershokz with one side out.
  I too was wondering if there might be some kind of app for this but the need 
is a rather small niche.  It is something we should be sending to Apple.  They 
could address it with an option to produce low-level background noise when VO 
is running.  It sounds as if this is not an isolated issue but can occur with 
many digital audio receivers, whether or not they come in a sound bar.  Perhaps 
it is not an issue with the more expensive sets, but not everyone is made of 
money.
