Helga, Just a note to this,
In disk utility you will see a couple of different options of disks, The top of the list should be the actual hard disk, The next possibly named Macintosh HD, or if never named it might be unknown, And the third of the disks in the utility list is one you "DO NOT" eraise! The bottom of the list is the recovery partition, if you wipe this while in recovery mode you wont go much further with your reinstall. You shoul d only eraise the middle option of the disk list, it should be as I said something like Macintosh HD,although you can name the HD anything now days. Highlight this and then go to the eraise tab and find the eraise button and click it then confirm and once that is done, go back to the list of utilities which you can do by closing disk utility and find the install OSX and it will use your wifi connection to install the version of OSX from the apple website Hope that helps. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of jeff `greene Sent: Thursday, 26 May 2016 12:41 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Wiping the Hard drive clean in a 2011 Mac computer Hi Helga, Your friend would want to boot into recovery mode. Just hold down command+r on boot-up. I usually hold it down, wait until you hear the boot tone, and then count to like 30 before releasing the keys. After that wait like 2 minutes and then hit command+f5 to get VO up. You'll find yourself in a table one of which is disc utility. Select disc utility, select your macintosh hd and click on erase. Make sure the options are HFS+ journaled and hit erase. After that close disc utility which will bring you back to the table of options. Next select reinstall mac OSX. And you'll be all set Hope this helps! Jeff On 5/25/16, Helga Schreiber <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi all! This is helga! How are you all?
